John Wayne Brown was born on 5 August 1950.

On 19 June 1970, Lance Corporal John Wayne Brown was serving with 3rd Platoon, F Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, Lance Corporal Brown was killed in action when he sustained multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered.
