Steve Blaskovich, Jr. was born on 27 August 1949 in Highland, IN, the son of Steve and Grace Blaskovich, Sr.

Steve was a 1967 graduate of Highland High School in Highland. He then attended a year at Purdue University before becoming employed by Inland Steel Company. Drafted, he was inducted into the U.S. Army in August 1969.

On 8 June 1970, PFC Steve Blaskovich, Jr. was serving with A Company, 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry, 198th Infantry Brigade in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC Blaskovich was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.

Blaskovich received a posthumous promotion to the rank of Corporal.
