Richard Lee Blasen was born on 23 September 1946 in Wheaton, IL.

On 3 June 1967, Lance Corporal Richard Lee Blasen was serving with F Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, III Marine Amphibious Force in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, Lance Corporal Blasen was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
