On 8 April 1967, Private Don Curtis Benfield was serving with F Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam. On that day, PVT Benfield was killed in action by artillery, rocket, or mortar fire. His body was recovered.
