Jack Allen Beard was born on 12 February 1946 in Boonsboro, MD.

On 5 February 1968, SP4 Jack Allen Beard was serving as an infantryman with A Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division in Gia Dinh Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SP4 Beard was killed in action by multiple fragmentation wounds. He received a posthumous promotion to Sergeant. His body was recovered.
