Patrick Christopher Nevin was born on 25 April 1937 in Balla, County Mayo, Ireland. He came to the United States and joined the U.S. Army.

On 23 February 1966, Sergeant Patrick Christopher Nevin was serving with B Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, in Binh Dinh Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SGT Nevin was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
