Donald Lee Alford

Donald Lee Alford was born on 28 May 1925, in Columbus, GA, the son of C. Jason and Olga Bagley Alford.
Donald enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941, at the age of 15. He served on the USS Enterprise during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After 28 years of Navy service, he retired in 1969 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
After leaving the military, Donald retired in 1986 from McCrory Restaurant, Valley Mall, Hagerstown, MD, after 16 years of service.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 of the American Legion and both the national and local AARP. He also attended St. Anne Episcopal Church Smithsburg, MD.
Death and Burial
Lieutenant Commander Donald Lee Alford died Monday, 19 April 2004, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, MD.
In addition to his wife, June L. Myers Alford to whom he was married for 28 years, Donald is survived by one son, Donald W. Alford of Trenton, NJ; two stepdaughters, Cindy E. Ecton and Vickie A. Eyler, both of Hagerstown; one grandson, Sean D. Alford of Collinswood, N.J.; two stepgrandsons, Ronald E. Ecton of Ashburn, VA, and Brian M. Ecton of Baltimore, MD; one stepgranddaughter, Christy K. Seibert of Downsville, MD, three stepgreat-grandchildren, Emily, Courtney and Kiran Myers, all of Downsville, MD; one brother, Robert Walford [sic] of Georgetown, SC; and one sister, Lorena Queen of Fort Myers, FL.
Donald was preceded in death by one brother, C. Jason Alford.
