Nathan C. Whiting Nathan C. Whiting was born on 4 May 1724 in Windham, CT. A 1743 graduate of Yale University, he was commissioned as an Ensign and participated in King George's War during the Siege of Louisbourg in 1745. In 1755, he was appointed as Lieutenant Colonel of the 2nd Connecticut Militia Regiment and participated in the battle of Lake George and Fort Edward. His actions immediately following the French-Indian ambush on the road to Fort Edward influenced the outcome of the battle and the capture of the French commander. He was promoted to Colonel in 1756 and was stationed at Fort Number 4 in New Hampshire to guard the frontier. After the war, he served in the Connecticut General Assembly until his death. Death and Burial Colonel Nathan C. Whiting died on 9 April 1771. He is buried at Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven, CT. |
