Charles Byrne Lieutenant Colonel, U. S. Army Silver Star Awarded the Silver Star citation by the War Dept. 16 Apr 1924, for gallantry in action against Spanish forces at the battle of Santiago, Cuba on 1 Jul 1898. Appointed from Texas to 2Lt. 6th Infantry on 9 Jan 1877. Retired as Lt. Col. at his own request 14 March 1908. |
