Charles Robert Stephan Charles Robert Stephan was born on 30 September 1911. Stephan was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1934. He served in World War II in the South Pacific and was a three-time recipient of the Navy Cross. He also was a recipient of two Bronze Stars. After serving in the Navy for 30 years, he retired and joined Florida Atlantic University as a Professor. Here he founded the nation's first undergraduate Ocean Engineering Program. He was also a past commander of the National Legion of Valor; an organization of recipients of the Medal of Honor, the Navy Cross, the Air Force Cross and the Distinguished Service Cross. Death and Burial Captain Charles Robert Stephan died on 30 August 1998. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. |
