PFC Charlie C Anthony,
Charlie was born on February 28, 1946. It was a big loving family with three sisters and four brothers. He attended school at Carver Elementary in Naples, Fl. and graduated from Carver High School in 1965.
He was drafted into the Army in 1968 and went to Fort Benning, Georgia for basic training. He then received his orders for Vietnam. On May 12, 1969, CO C of the 11th Brigade of the Amercal Division engaged the enemy in action near Zuan Thah. Pfc. Anthony, with complete disregard for his personal safety, attacked and killed several insurgents. When Anthony and the remainder of his squad tried to prevent enemy soldiers from skirting the flank of their unit, a firefight ensued that caused Anthony to be fatally wounded.
His family was, presented the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National Defense, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign Medals, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, and Infantry Combat Badge, Infantry Shoulder Cord for his service.
Pfc. Anthony was married and left a baby daughter, he never met. In 1976, the City of Naples named a Park in his honor.
