On 24 March 1968, U.S. Army Sergeant Rudolfo Leonard Rocha, Jr. was serving with A Company, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, in Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SGT Rocha was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
