Son of a career U.S. Air Force officer.

Enlisted in the U.S. Army following graduation from the Catholic University of America in June, 1968.

Completed Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Fort Benning, GA, June, 1969.

Completed Army Aviator (Rotary Wing) training, September, 1970.

Deployed overseas for combat duty in Southeast Asia, November, 1970.

Assigned as an AH-1G "Cobra" co-pilot in Troop "A," 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile).

Shot down over Cambodia during Vietnam War. Wounded by Viet Cong. Missing in action (MIA).
