Amos Hall Amos Hall was born on 21 November 1761 in Guilford, CT, the son of Captain Stephen and Abigail Sexton Hall. Hall entered the military at the age of 15, as a Fifer in his Father's regiment during the Revolution. In 1790, he settled in upstate New York, where he helped found the town of West Bloomfield. He took the first census of western New York in 1790. He served as a U.S. Deputy Marshal, served in the State Assembly, and was a State Senator from 1809-13. He rose to the rank of Major General during the War of 1812, and was Commander-in- Chief of the Niagara frontier. Personal Hall married Phoebe Coe in 1790 and was the father of 9 children. Death and Burial Major General Amos Hall died on 28 December 1827 in West Bloomfield, NY. He is buried at the Pioneer Cemetery in West Bloomfield, NY. |
