SP4 ARELINN LEWIS JACKSON
“Sonny” as he was known to his family and friends was born in Greenville, Florida, on August 4, 1948, to Felling Jackson Jr. and Sylvia H Rowe.
He grew up in Greenville, attended school there and graduated in the Class of 1966. After High School, he moved to the Dunbar Community in Fort Myers to be with some extended family. He is remembered for loving to work on cars.
He was drafted into the Army and started his tour in Vietnam on October 18, 1968. He served with B CO, 5th BN, 7th CAV DIV.
On January 17, 1969, he gave his life for our Country while on combat operations when engaging a hostile force in a firefight in Tay Ninh Province, South Vietnam.
He received Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, National Defense, Vietnam Service w/Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign, and Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Medals.
