Henry Gibbins Henry Gibbins was born on 20 May 1877 in Knoxville, TN. At the beginning of the Spanish-American War, he joined the 3rd Tennessee Volunteer Infantry in May 1898. In May 1901, he entered the Regular Army as a Second Lieutenant in the 10th Cavalry and served in Cuba. During the 1916 Punitive Expedition, Mexico, he served as a Captain in the 7th Cavalry Regiment. In 1919, he was commanding officer at the Keogh Quartermaster Depot and from November 1922 to August 1925, as Executive Officer of the Army War College in Washington, DC. In 1927, he served as Quartermaster, Hawaiian Department and from September 1930 to September 1934, as Colonel Executive Officer to the Quartermaster General. On 1 April 1936, he became the 30th Quartermaster General and retired from post in March 1940, at the rank of Major General. Death and Burial Major General Henry Gibbins died on 8 April 1941. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. |
