WO1 WILLIAM COLQUETH HIX, JR,
William was born August 17, 1947 to William Hix, and Hazel Duke, location unknown. It is, believed he attended school in Fort Myers, although no living relatives were located to verify.
He joined the Army in Fort Myers. On November 4, 1968, he began his tour of duty in Vietnam with the 1ST PLT, 45TH MED CO, 68TH MED GROUP, 44TH MED BDE. On February 25, 1969, he gave his life for our Country when his helicopter was, shot down while trying to rescue eight fellow soldiers surrounded by enemy fire in Long Khahn, South Vietnam.
He was, awarded Army Aviator Badge, Silver Star, Purple Heart, Air Medal, National Defense, Vietnam Service w/Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medals, and Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation.
