CPL. DANIEL HAROLD HACKETT,
Daniel was born on February 5, 1946, in San Diego, California, and grew up in Mississippi.
He graduated from Delta State College in Cleveland, Mississippi, with a degree in history and later spent 1 year at St Paul’s Methodist Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Late in 1968, he joined his parents, Daniel and Louise, who had retired to North Port, Florida. He loved having his cousins and friends visit him in Florida. He joined the US Army in January 1969.
He lost his life on June 20, 1969, serving as a Radio Operator at Lazy Ike Outpost on the Cambodian Border. He was with the First Air Calvary Division, First 77th Artillery.
He was promoted posthumously and received a Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service w/Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medals, and Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation.
