Thomas Harold Dyer Thomas Harold Dyer was born on 23 May 1902. Dyer was in charge of the Navy's cryptanalytic unit at Pearl Harbor during the war. He was an expert cryptanalyst who played a major role in the decoding of the Japanese main fleet orders during the weeks before the Battle of Midway. His efforts helped turn the tide of battle in favor of the United States. Captain Dyer retired in 1955. Death and Burial Captain Thomas Harold Dyer died of cardio-pulmonary arrest on 5 January 1985. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. He was survived by his wife, Edith M. Dyer. She died on 19 December 1995 and is buried with her husband. |
