Thomas Tingey Craven Thomas Tingey Craven was born on 8 July 1873. Craven was Director of Naval Aviation after World War I and laid the groundwork for establishment of the Bureau of Aeronautics. He ordered the collier Jupiter converted into our first aircraft carrier, the USS Langley (CV-1). Craven played a prominent role in the development of naval aviation. Death and Burial Vice Admiral Thomas Tingey Craven died on 5 April 1950 in New York. He is buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. |
