Excerpts from his obituary in the Atlanta Constitution June 11, 1969:
Lt. Bemis, who was to have been promoted to first lieutenant the day he was killed, was serving as an Army adviser in the Mekong Delta. He had been in Vietnam six and a half weeks. He was a 1963 graduate of Sprayberry High School in Marietta, GA, where he was a member of the band and track team, and a graduate of North Georgia College with a degree in biology. He had taught a year at Jonesboro, GA, High School before entering the service. Lt. Bemis' final resting place is in the Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, GA.
