SGT ARTHUR JAMES ANDERSON
Arthur James Anderson was born in Havana, Florida, August 12, 1947. He was raised in Clewiston where he attended Harlem Academy School after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was nurtured by his beloved mother, Mrs. Cora Anderson. He had three sisters and two brothers, which filled his life with much joy. He loved to draw and was actually very good at doing artwork and painting. His hobbies was riding motorcycles and playing basketball. He was a member of Greater Friendship Baptist church of Clewiston. Arthur was an intricate part of the community as he lived in a time when the whole community raised a child.
He began his tour of duty in Vietnam on August 18, 1968 and ended when he gave his life for his Country on February 23, 1969.
Arthur received a Posthumous Promotion, Combat Infantryman Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star w/Bronze Oak Cluster, Purple Heart, Army Commendation, National Defense, Vietnam Service w/3 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Civic Action, Vietnam Campaign Medals, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation.
