John Mathew Ainsworth, Jr.

On 2 July 1967, Private First Class John Mathew Ainsworth, Jr. was serving with B Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC Ainsworth was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
