On 15 May 1967, Lance Corporal Reimundo Aguilar was serving with B Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, LCpl Adams was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
