On 4 July 1971, Petty Officer Third Class Manolo Briones Agnes was serving with DET CAT LO, NAVSUPACT Saigon, in Khanh Hoa Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, EM3 Agnes died in a vehicle crash in a non-hostile action. His body was recovered.
