On 17 September 1968, Corporal Michael Eugene Adams was serving with HML-367, MAG-36, 1st Marine Air Wing, III Marine Amphibious Force in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, Cpl Adams died of Other Causes when the helicopter in which he was a crew member, crashed due to a non-hostile action. His body was recovered.
