Samuel Young Adair, Jr.
Major, U.S. Air Force

On 12 May 1972, Major Samuel Young Adair, Jr. was serving with the 390th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 366th Tactical Fighter Wing, 7th Air Force.

On that day Maj Adair was listed as Missing in Action when his aircraft was shot down in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. On 15 July 1975 his status was changed to Died While Missing, Body Not Recovered. His body was later recovered and returned to U.S. soil on 6 November 1974 and his remains were identified on 26 June 1975.
