Robert Joseph Acalotto

On 20 February 1971, Specialist Four Robert Esten Abbott, Jr. was serving with the 48th Assault Helicopter Company, 223rd Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade, in South Vietnam.

On that day, SPC4 Acalotto was listed as Missing in Action when the helicopter on which he was a crew member was shot down over Laos. His body was not recovered and he was declared Died While Missing with the casualty date 25 September 1978.

During the time that Acalotto was Missing in Action, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
