Robert Earl Jenne Robert Earl Jenne was born on 7 January 1948 in Salt Lake City, UT, the son of Irene Albert and Aaron Frank Jenne. He grew up and attended schools in the Salt Lake City Area. Bob joined the U.S. Army on 27 January 1966. He received Basic Training at Fort Bliss, TX, and Advanced Individual Training in Artillery at Fort Sill, OK. He attended Airborne Training School at Fort Benning, GA, and received his Parachutist Badge on 8 July 1966. On 8 May 1968, Specialist Four Robert Earl Jenne was serving his third tour in Vietnam and was assigned as a Door Gunner with the 281st Assault Helicopter Company, 10th CAB, 17th CAG, 1st Aviation Brigade, in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam. On that day, SPC4 Jenne was killed when the UH-1C helicopter in which he was the door gunner was hit by enemy fire and exploded in the air. His body was not recovered and he is presumed to have died while missing.
