On 28 February 1968, Warrant Officer 1 Ray Grant Jenkins was serving with the 336th Assault Helicopter Company, 13th Aviation Battalion, 164th Aviation Group, 101st Airborne Division, in Ba Xugen Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, WO1 Jenkins was killed in action when he sustained wounds from artillery, rocket or mortar fire. His body was recovered.
