On 22 February 1968, Lance Corporal Randall Lee Jenkins was serving with K Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, LCpl Jenkins died of Other Causes: Drowning. His body was recovered.
