Robert Lloyd Abernathy

On 17 December 1965, Major Robert Lloyd Abernathy was serving with the 4th Air Commando Squadron, 6250th Combat Support Group, 13th Air Force.

On that day Maj Abernathy was killed when his aircraft was shot down in Ninh Thuan Province, South Vietnam. His body was recovered and returned to U.S. soil on 23 December 1965 and his remains were identified on 24 December 1965.
