George Levenback was born in New York City, NY, on 10 April 1923. He received degrees from City College of New York and from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1947. Levenback was a member of the group sent from Yokohama to establish a port in Sasebo, Japan, on 4 July 1950. The group organized under Lt. Col. Maguire on the train from Yokohama. Levenback was designated Supply and Facilities Officer. George was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service during the Korean War. After retiring from the Army, George settled in Swampscott, MA, where he ran a plant that fabricated restaurant equipment. He moved to Studio City, CA, in 1971 where he continued in the hotel/restaurant industry as a manufacturer's rep. George loved Southern California for its weather, its scenery, and the many close friends he made there. Burial George Levenback is buried at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA. He is survived by his family: His wife of 67 years, Jeanne Rich Levenback; daughters Kathy Day and Paula Rudnick; son-in-law Allan Rudnick; grandchildren Allison Rudnick, Zoe Rudnick, Christopher Day, Sarah Day Golding and Jarrett Golding. |
