Biography:

Private First Class Stavely was an assistant machine gunner with Company B, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade. He was Killed in Action while defending the river crossing site on the Sachon River, South Korea on 1 September 1950.

Stavely was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
