Private First Class Everett was a member of the 504th Transportation Truck Company, U.S. Army. On 15 July 1953, the truck in which he was riding went over a cliff near Yanggu, North Korea.

Everett was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
