Airman Second Class Dail was Stationed assigned at Sampson Air Force Base at Geneva, New York, training recruits. He was critically injured in an automobile accident while returning to base on 25 October 1952 and died the following day in the City Hospital at Auburn, New York.

Dail was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
