Private First Class Woody was a member of the 18th Maintenance Squadron, 18th Maintenance and Supply Group, 18th Fighter Wing. On 1 January 1951, he was killed in a vehicle accident near Yong Dong-ni, North Korea.

Woody was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
