Corporal Stanley was a medic of the Medical Company, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was injured in an vehicle accident and evacuated to the 9063 Mobile Army Surgical Hospital where he died on 29 October 1952.

Stanley was awarded the Combat Medical Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
