Airman Third Class Haugh was a member of the 1818th Airways and Air Communication System Group, U.S. Air Force. On 15 November 1952, he was a passenger on a C-46D Commando transport from the 34th Troop Carrier Squadron, 315th Troop Carrier Wing. The aircraft was transporting personnel from Kangnung Airfield (K-18) to Pohang Airfield (K-3). It crashed into the Sea of Japan shortly after take off killing ten on board. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
Haugh was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
