Private First Class Boitnoitt was a member of Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. On 13 April 1951, while climbing a steep mountain near Suin-ni, North Korea, he fell unconscious and died while being taken to the aid station.

Boitnoitt was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
