Biography:

Carmine Raccippio was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Louis Raccippio. He attended Public Schools 115 and 73.

Always interested in airplances, Carmine enlisted in the U.S. Army Coast Artillery at the age of 17 in the hopes of being able to transfer into the Air Corps. After six years in the Coast Artillery he was no closer to his goal, he accepted a discharge and a year later, in 1939, he enlisted in the Air Corps.

Raccippio was serving at Hickam Field during the attack on Pearl Harbor, HI, and was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, First Lieutenant Raccippio was a Bombardier instructor at an Air Force Base in England. On 4 February 1951, he was killed in an aircraft accident near Bassingbourn, England.
