Captain Tucker commanded Company A, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while leading an attack on enemy positions near Ukkonggi, North Korea on 29 September 1951 by enemy machine gun fire.
For his leadership and valor, Captain Tucker was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device and Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart,, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
