Airman Second Class Puszkar was a crewman on a twin engine Beechcraft assigned to the Kingsville Naval Air Station, Texas, during the Korean War. During a training flight from Texas to Kansas on 22 February 1952, the aircraft crashed on takeoff killing "Sonny" and three other passengers.

Puszkar was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
