Private First Class Scott was a member of Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He contracted pneumonia near Pungsan, North Korea and died on 12 November 1950.

Scott was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
