Airman First Class Miller was a member of the 8th Medical Group, 8th Fighter Bomber Wing. He was taken Prisoner of War while tending his wounded comrades and killed by the North Koreans on 13 December 1950 near Mujui, North Korea.

Miller was awarded the Purple Heart. the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
