Lieutenant Colonel Jackson was assigned to General MacArthur's staff in the Far East Command, Tokyo Japan. On 27 July 1950, he was killed in an aircraft crash near Oshima Island, Japan en route to Korea.

Jackson was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
