|
Private First Class Gibbs was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was killed while positioned in a foxhole near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) as North Korean infiltrators attacked his position at night on 16 July 1967. Gibbs was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Defense Service Medal. |
