Private First Class Crawford was a member of Company E, 434th Engineer Construction Battalion, U.S. Army. The vehicle in which he was riding was sideswiped by another vehicle and he was taken to the 22nd Evacuation Hospital where he died on 27 November 1951.

Crawford was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
