Noble was stationed in Shanghai, where he met & married his wife, Viola. After the war in the Pacific broke out on Dec 7, 1941, he was transferred to the Phillipines, where he was taken prisoner and survived the infamous Bataan Death March & spent the remainder of the war in Japanese POW camps.
