Captain Leidecker was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, he was assigned as an air administration officer with the 1603rd Air Base Group at Air Force Base Wegelus at Tripoli, Libya. On 27 April 1952, he was killed in an automobile accident.

Leidecker was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Asia-Pacific Theater of Operations Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
